The Peace Center works with local organizations on education, program events and action in the areas of nonviolence, conflict resolution, justice and peace.  We also work with the local chapters of some national organizations.  Some of these organizations are:

Woolman – Sierra Friends Center

Sierra Friends Center is an educational facility dedicated to the principles of peace, justice and sustainability.  It is home to The Woolman Semester, a program for high school juniors, seniors and gap-year students who want a hands-on, relevant, progressive and interdisciplinary study experience.  This is a Quaker community, open to all who share ideals embodying a vision for peace and justice achieved through learning and service.

Alternatives To Violence

AVP workshops are for everyone seeking harmony in their work, family and community.  Empathy and Compassion cannot be taught from the lecture podium.  They cannot be garnered from assigned reading.  They must be experienced.  Destructive conflict can start with disappointments,  irritations and frustrations.  Unresolved conflict is one of the roots of violence.  It is possible to change how you handle differences.

American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California

The ACLU of Northern California is a guardian of justice, fairness, equality, and freedom, working to protect and advance civil liberties for all.  The ACLU makes sure that our basic Constitutional rights – to free speech, to privacy, to be innocent until proven guilty – don’t just exist on paper, but also practice. The ACLU enforces the vision that these freedoms be guaranteed to every person in this country. These are our American values.
