Brady Campaign - Nevada County Chapter

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is devoted to creating an America free from gun violence, where all Americans are safe at home, at school, at work, at place of worship, and in our communities.  We work to educate communities about gun violence prevention and to help create and support public policy, legislation and regulations for sensible gun laws at the local, state and national levels.

The Nevada County Brady Chapter seeks to keep dangerous weapons out of dangerous hands, including those of criminals, the dangerously mentally ill, and children.  This will reduce firearm injury and death in situations of domestic violence, criminal activity, gang-related or youth violence, suicide attempts, and unintentional shootings.

We believe that a safer America can be achieved without banning guns.   We promote safe storage campaigns to reduce the risk of suicide and accidental shootings among children.  We support requiring background checks on all gun sales to reduce easy access to weapons by those at risk of acts of violence – to self or others.  We advocate for policies to curb the flow of illegal guns, such as requiring the reporting of lost or stolen firearms to law enforcement.
