Fourth Friday Film – Greedy, Lying Bastards

The Peace & Justice Center presents “Greedy Lying Bastards”.   Melting sea ice, glacier loss and rising sea levels, severe droughts and wildfires, increasingly severe tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding, record heat waves are the startling reality of today.  “Greedy Lying Bastards” investigates the climate change misinformation campaign waged by the oil industry and its think tanks to disparage the consensus in the scientific community that man-made global warming is a reality and is a growing problem that puts us on the brink of disaster.

The film exposes how a small number of well-paid spokespeople have confused the public and lawmakers on this issue. Both ExxonMobil and Koch Industries are identified in the film as two of the worst culprits funding the denial campaign. In addition to exposing the denial campaign, “Greedy Lying Bastards” tells the stories of those currently impacted by changing climate. “Greedy Lying Bastards” shows Friday, Sept. 23, 7:00 p.m. at The Open Book (next to Sierra Mtn. Coffee Roasters) 671 Maltman Drive, Grass Valley.
