Robert Marbut, Professor and Consultant on homelessness will be the main speaker at a town hall discussion on homelessness.  He is currently consulting for Auburn on its homeless issues. Marbut intends to speak on a why communities should engage the homeless, not enable them and how cities and communities should measure the success of their efforts to reduce homelessness.  According to Marbut, providing free food is enabling.  Determining the cause of homelessness such as PTSD or drug abuse is engaging.  He encourages measuring success of funded and volunteer efforts by how many homeless actually settle into homes.  He also encourages collaboration between agencies who provide services to the homeless.
