Sierra Nevada Chapter of ACLU – Public Meeting

The chapter is focusing on Privacy & Surveillance issues, Drug Policy Reform, Women’s Equality, Police Militarization, and Americans with Disabilities issues. YOU! are invited to attend the next general meeting of the newly formed Sierra Nevada Chapter of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU is a non-political organization that seeks to form a collaborative partnership with citizens and local officials, by opening dialogues over issues of concern and seeking reasonable solutions together. The ACLU of California is supporting a critical new bill – the bipartisan California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (CalECPA) – to update privacy laws and protect our electronic information. Passing CalECPA will make sure police go to a judge to obtain a warrant before accessing sensitive information, including data from devices, emails, digital documents, text messages and location information, with exceptions for legitimate criminal investigations.
