I am delighted to invite you to an upcoming forum between two candidates, both aspiring to serve as Trustee for Area 5 of the Nevada Joint Union High School District (NJUHSD). This forum will be held on Tuesday, August 4 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Banner Grange Community Center 12629 McCourtney Rd in Grass Valley. RSVP is required – see below…
The two candidates, MaryJane Ashford Huenergardt and Keith Allen, are inviting you to participate in democracy in a unique and historic way:
– attend this candidate forum, where they each will have ample time to discuss their reasons for running to serve the people of NJUHSD District 5;
– vote to choose which person you support as the candidate to appear on the ballot in November 2026.
Only invited participants registered to vote in Nevada County (or that will be registered by 11/3/2026) will be given a ballot for voting. Others are invited to observe the process;
– witness the ballots being collected and counted as soon as the forum ends; and

YOU ARE INVITED to SUBMIT QUESTIONS THAT YOU WISH TO SEE ADDRESSED at this forum. Please send your question, along with your RSVP (see below), by no later than noon on Monday August 3.
These two candidates recognize that they have the potential to unintentionally tilt the election by splitting the votes of the people in District 5 that support their values. Each has agreed to publicize this event to their friends and supporters. They have both agreed to honor the outcome of the vote taken at the meeting. The person with the most
votes will move forward on the ballot and the other person will not appear on the ballot.
And, hopefully, the rest of us will pledge to work hard to get the candidate we choose that night elected to the Board!
