Freedom Riders is a 2011 American historical documentary film produced for PBS American Experience.  It is based in part on the book “Freedom Rriders: 1961 and the Struggle for Racial Justice” by historian Ramond Arsenault.  The film tells the stories behind the activists called “Freedom Riders” that challenged racial segregation in American transportation during the Civil Rights Movement.  The activists traveled together in small interracial groups to compel equal access to terminal restaurants and waiting rooms.  They brought racial segration to national attention.

Suggested donation is $10.  A discussion is apt to follow.
