The Nevada County Climate Change Coalition will host a free presentation by:

Nick Wilcox,
elected director of the Nevada Irrigation District
The unprecedented drought here and elsewhere in the world is focusing the attention of scientists on the causes of climate change, and on the question of appropriate responses to mitigate its consequences. New ways of obtaining, saving, storing, transporting, and sharing potable water must be considered to avoid conflicts over access to this vital resource.

As a retiree of the State Water Resources Control Board, where he worked as the supervising Environmental Scientist in the Division of Water Rights, Mr. Wilcox served most recently as Chief of the Bay-Delta Unit.  His role included implementation of water quality objectives for the
protection of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and the San Francisco Bay Estuary. He will present an overview of the District’s water issues and the challenges posed by climate change, followed by a discussion of solutions to complex problems and conflicting interests.

There will be time for questions after the presentation.
