The 2014 documentary, “Merchants of Doubt”  depicts how mainstream media has skewed public understanding of some of the most pressing issues of our era, including climate change.   Taking information from a handful of scientists the film reveals the troubling story of how a few scientists have clouded public understanding to advance a political and economic agenda.   The film explains how these scientists with extensive political connections, ran effective campaigns to mislead the public and deny scientific knowledge over four decades, on issues from tobacco, acid rain, the ozone hole, and now global warming.  Oreskes and Conway roll back the rug on this dark corner of the American scientific community.

Following the film, Carol Kuczora will present a short presentation on the current global state of affairs re climate change.

Suggested donation $6 – $10   Treats available at Sierra Mountain Coffee Roasters next door.

The date change is due to a schedule conflict.  We should be back to Fourth Friday in May.
