The 33rd annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Gospel Concert, performed by the Bethel AME Church Choir of Marysville and the Trinity Choir of Nevada City will be held on Monday.  Doors open at 11:15.  This is often a standing-room only event.  The Bethel AME Church choir is directed by Zenobia Brown and features several soloists.  The Trinity Choir of Nevada City is directed by Stan Thomas-Rose.   KVMR 89.5 features this concert, live, as part of its day-long King Day celebration with special programming before and after the concert.  The event technical producer Paul Emery, says this happens because the volunteers care.  KVMR will also air a 90 minute collage, “The King of Love: A short History of the Civil Rights Movement” from award-winning Pacifica Radio producer Dred-Scott Keyes.  The Morning Show on KVMR will feature an interview with local author Bill Drake, who documented his struggle to overcome racism in his own southern family in his book “Almost Hereditary”.  A rebroadcast of concert highlights will be at 6:00 PM.
