This is a global day of action — with simultaneous events in cities from Atlanta to Johannesburg to Tokyo — calling for an end to the occupation, apartheid, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. 

As Jewish Voice for Peace, our presence at actions like this matters. We show up to stand in solidarity, to make clear that Jewish people across the world reject the conflation of Judaism with Zionism and the crimes being carried out in our name.

  Purpose of this event:
  That churches, other faith groups, and the secular activist
  community learn from each other, and engage in
  complementary action for freedom and justice for Palestine.
  Questions, Discussion, Written Information to Address These
  Subjects:
• What sources can one trust to know the truth about current realities in Israel,
  Gaza, West Bank?
• What do Methodists and other faith groups have to say about Palestine, Israel,
  and Genocide?
• What are the actions faith communities are doing and could be doing to bring
  justice and peace there?
• What does Palestine have to do with Climate Change, Racism, Immigrant
  justice, and other places of injustice?
• How do BDS (boycott, divestment, sanctions) in general and the Chevron
  Boycott in particular connect the issues?
• How does one turn “concern” into action for Palestinians, ending genocide and
  ethnic cleansing, and, ultimately support actual peace and justice for all in the
  region? ( i.e. What can we actually do about it?)
• How can statements and resolutions from higher level faith leaders and
  conferences which condemn violence or support efforts for Palestine gain life and
  effectiveness in the local church or community at the “grass-roots” level?

The next Board of Supervisors meeting is at 9:00am on the 10th of February, and we have a goal of 1,000 signatures by then. Additionally, we need as many of you as possible to show up for the meeting to voice your support in person. We Stand Together: Nevada County Unites Against Fear and Division

The unlawful and escalating attacks on immigrant communities by the Trump administration are not just policy—they are part of a deliberate effort to spread fear, silence dissent, and divide our communities. Their goal is convince those with more security that if they just stay silent, they will be spared. 

The people of Nevada County reject division and fear. We know the truth: no group is expendable, and no one is to blame for the hardships we face.

We stand together to protect our neighbors, our families, and our community from any attacks by the Department of Homeland Security or any other group or individual. You can’t claim solidarity behind closed doors and silence on the record.

We call on the Nevada County Board of Supervisors to:

• Publicly stand with immigrant communities and affirm their right to safety, dignity, and belonging.
• Take concrete actions and adopt policies that ensure protection for all residents, without exception.
• Reject excuses that invoke fear of funding loss or political reprisal as reasons to avoid moral leadership.

California’s sanctuary laws are not enough. We need local leaders willing to act with courage — to make visible commitments and to stand with every member of our community.

Moral leadership means standing up, especially when it’s hard. This is our home. These are our families, our  friends, and our neighbors. In the face of authoritarian rule, we must stand united to protect one another.
