Latest News from the Peace Recruitment Group

Lorraine is to research the current enlistment contracts and determine (1) what is the minimum age one must be to be bound to the contract; can a youth get out once he has signed? (2) basic pay scales for recruits; and more information about truth and lies of military recruiting.
Lorraine will also see if we can purchase up to date materials.

Nory will also look into the AFSC for updated information or flyers for handouts.

We decided we would update our materials and collect amounts to be passed out.

We discussed the idea of a "Peace Mascot" or large puppet (maybe animal head, or human head) wtih cloth arms and then paper machaed "hands" that could entice youth to come over to the table and speak with us. We are looking for artists who would be willing to take on this project of making the huge puppet for the Peace Center, and for Peace Recruiting purposes.

Lily Marie will be contact the Woolman school to see if she can find youth artists interested in creating our Peace Mascot. She will also be contacting youth at Woolman who may be willing to join us in peace recruiting at the main stream schools. She will also look for "sympathetic teachers at the high shcools so we may plan to develope a "program" to take into the classrooms.

Nory, Lorraine, Lily Marie and David all signed up to go up to Nevada Union on certain dates in the near future to do our peace recruiting work.

If you or anyone you know wishes to be put on the calendar to do this, please email Lorraine at lawyerforpeace at yahoo dot com; or contact Nory4u at sbcglobal dot net
